What Can I Expect as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)?
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Beacon, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges. Your role will be instrumental in helping residents live independently, achieve personal goals, and improve their quality of life.
Daily Responsibilities Include:
What You’ll Do:
Lead & Support: Supervise, train, and mentor staff to provide high-quality, person-centered care. Foster a positive and productive team environment.
Ensure Quality Care: Create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that promotes personal growth and independence for individuals receiving services.
Problem-Solve & Communicate: Work closely with clients, families, and team members to identify needs, address concerns, and develop care plans. Maintain open and clear communication to ensure the best outcomes.
Oversee Daily Operations: Ensure policies, procedures, and state regulations are followed while maintaining accurate documentation, scheduling, and compliance records.
Crisis Management & Advocacy: Respond to emergencies and behavioral challenges with professionalism and care, advocating for individuals' needs and well-being.
Coordinate Services: Collaborate with medical professionals, therapists, and other service providers to develop and implement personalized care plans.
Provide Transportation: When needed to transport individuals to appointments, activities, or community engagements.
What You Bring:
✔ Education & Experience: Degree in human services preferred, OR experience supporting individuals with disabilities/behavioral challenges.
✔ Leadership Skills: Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
✔ Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and handle challenges with empathy.
✔ Valid Driver’s License & Reliable Transportation (Must have a clean driving record).
✔ Pass Background Checks: state background check and required state screenings.
