What Can I Expect as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)?
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Beacon, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges. Your role will be instrumental in helping residents live independently, achieve personal goals, and improve their quality of life.
Daily Responsibilities Include:
As a Community Support Professional, you’ll provide personalized support for individuals with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings. From assisting with daily living tasks to promoting independence and advocating for client needs, you’ll play a vital role in helping people thrive in their communities.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Supporting individuals with daily living skills including bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
Assisting with household tasks and promoting a safe, clean, and supportive home environment.
Encouraging community engagement through recreational, medical, and social outings.
Advocating for individuals in managing their households, finances, and personal decisions.
Providing transportation and assistance with appointments and daily errands.
Participating in team planning and supporting individuals in setting and achieving personal goals.
Maintaining accurate documentation, progress notes, and communicating effectively with team members and families.
High School Diploma (required)
At least 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
Must be 21+ years old
Valid PA Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
Strong communication skills and a respectful, positive approach to care
Physical ability to meet the demands of the job, including lifting and assisting individuals
Dependability, patience, and a genuine passion for helping others succeed
