General Statement of Duties

The Residential Manager works with a person-centered team to develop, implement, and coordinate supports that address the needs and interests of consumers and assist them in safely reaching their personal goals for skill development and community integration. The manager plans and coordinates all activities, manages the daily schedule, and ensures the space used is adequately furnished and supplied with materials and equipment to facilitate independent living. The Residential Manager is responsible for ensuring that the group home operates within the policies and procedures of the agency and meets licensing and accreditation standards.

Duties:

  • Develops, coordinates and participates in all IHP/IPP meetings for consumers.
  • Ensures group home staff help consumers achieve IHP goals and continually monitors progress made.
  • Ensures adequate supervision and support is provided to consumers when consumers are in the community.
  • Prepares monthly staff schedule, obtains substitutes or covers shift as needed to meet goal of no overtime.
  • Works closely with nurse to strengthen liaison relationships with medical care providers and to ensure staff receive training by nurse as needed.
  • Ensures appropriate staff ratios, high quality services are delivered, and standards for licensing and accreditation are met.
  • Ensures program documents and records are properly maintained and reports are prepared and submitted on time, including but not limited to, time and attendance, electronic case records, daily transaction records, monthly consumer attendance reports, and Consumer Monthly Progress Reports.
  • Ensures fire and emergency drills are conducted as required.
  • Ensure new staff receives on-the-job orientation and training.
  • Routinely meets with supervisor and participates in management meetings and activities.
  • Maintains positive relationships with persons, businesses and organizations that seek to work with consumers.
 

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications:

        • Minimum High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
        • 2 year experience in a supervisory position preferred
        • 3-year experience working with developmentally disabled individuals, pre-service DDD Trainings preferred
        • Computer literacy using Microsoft Word; familiarity with an electronic health record system preferred
        • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies
        • Ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed
        • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and other team members
        • Understanding of resident rights and ability to advocate for individual needs
        • Must be 21 years of age or older
        • Ability to understand and implement individualized supports
