Overview

This position is responsible for ensuring that primary responsibilities are delivered in compliance with the
company’s policies and procedures, MN DHS, and other regulatory bodies. As a Behavioral Technician,
you are to be aligned with the goals and mission of the organization and to perform in the accordance of

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
• Facilitate individualized treatment plans to meet the needs of each individual, applying
techniques to decrease problem and aggressive behavior as well as to promote skill acquisition.
• Facilitate activities to build the following skills: communication, social skills, daily living,
independence, personal hygiene, and fine and gross motor skills.
• Ability to work one-on-one with Individuals as directed.
• Assist and care for adults and children with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness and
occurring disorders, performing in gentle, compassionate, and evidenced-based manner and
operating within the rights of the Individuals.
• Set positive examples for Individuals at all times.
• Adhere to the person-centered plans, treatment plans, and behavior plans as written for each
Individual.
• Provide opportunities throughout the day to help Individuals meet goals.
• Provide quality of care, a safe and healthy setting free from harm while upholding the rights of
all individuals.
• Create a space of trust and relationship with all Individuals.
• Protect all Individuals from abuse and/or neglect and immediately report any occurrence to
appropriate authorities.
• Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all Individuals.
• Follow and uphold all house guidelines.

• Cook meals as necessary for Individuals based upon food specifications, diets, food exchanges
and documentation.
• Transport and attend appointments with Individuals: advocate and obtains necessary
documentation.
• Complete required documentation before the end of shift, including, but not limited to progress
notes, miscellaneous notes, daily support logs, event reports, incident reports, LOA forms,
resident inventories, etc.
• Responsible for cleanliness of home site according to the cleaning chart. Inspection ready at all
times.
• Must remain awake and immediately accessible in all homes requiring 24/7 care.
• Hand off communication to next shift staff.
• On-call duties as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of previous experience working in high acuity environments with intense behaviors.
• RBT experience preferred.
• Ability to work with and care for adults or children with developmental disabilities and related
conditions, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders.
• Ability to complete duties in a gentle, compassionate, and evidenced-based manner, while
operating within the rights of the residents.
• Demonstrate patience and compassion.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
• Work well with a variety of different individuals
• Possess detailed knowledge of patient’s condition, symptoms, and medications.
• Exhibit ability to think quickly and act calmly in emergent situations.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
• Communicate clearly and effectively.
• Possess strong listening skills.
• Possess physical stamina required to help individuals move around.
• Possess emotional strength necessary to work with Individuals.
• Ability to maintain friendly and open demeanor at all times.
• Successfully pass background checks including fingerprinting.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate in a calm manner.
• Ability to take direction well from management level staff.
• Must be able to meet time requirements of position.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License and remain insurable under the BSLS insurance coverage
policy.
• Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

Pay Range

USD $25.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
