Overview

This position is responsible for ensuring that all primary responsibilities are delivered in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures, County Boards of Developmental Disabilities & Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) guidelines and other regulatory bodies. Responsibilities

• Facilitate individualized treatment plans to meet the needs of each individual, applying techniques to decrease problems and aggressive behavior as well as to promote skill acquisition.
• Facilitate activities to build the following skills: communication, social skills, daily living, independence, personal hygiene, and fine and gross motor skills.
• Ability to work one-on-one with Individuals as directed.
• Assist and care for children with severe developmental disabilities and/or mental illness and occurring disorders, performing in gentle, compassionate and evidenced-based manner and operating within the rights of the Individuals.
• Set positive examples for Individuals at all times.
• Adhere to the person-centered plans, treatment plans, and behavior plans as written for each Individual.
• Practices safe and sound crisis prevention and intervention strategies by promoting and teaching the use of preventative strategies, therapeutic activities and recreation, and early intervention techniques.
• Maintains close communication with the Home Manager, QIDP, nurse, and clinical staff to ensure support strategies and plans are implemented appropriately and with the utmost respect for the person supported.
• Actively participates at staff meetings by communicating observations concerning progress and reaction to various therapy programs.
• Provide opportunities throughout the day to help individuals meet daily goals.
• Provide quality care, a safe and healthy setting free from harm while upholding the rights of all people supported.
• Create a space of trust and relationship with all individuals.
• Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all individuals.
• Follow and uphold all house guidelines.
• Cook meals as necessary for Individuals based upon food specifications, diets, food exchanges and documentation.
• Transports to and attends appointments with Individuals: advocate and obtains necessary documentation.
• Complete required documentation before the end of shift, including, but not limited to progress notes, miscellaneous notes, daily support logs, event reports, incident reports, LOA forms, resident inventories, etc.
• Responsible for cleanliness of home site according to the cleaning chart. Inspection ready at all times.
• Must remain awake and immediately accessible in all homes requiring 24/7 care.
• Hand off communication to next shift staff.
• Understands and follows the National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) code of ethics.
• Recognizes abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation (ANME) and as a mandated reporter, reports unusual and major unusual incidents following the ANME policies.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments; teaches, observes, reports concerns and progress in self-administration of medication; assists the individuals in achieving more independence in administration of medications.
• Maintains all required certifications
• On-call duties as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of previous experience working in high acuity environments with intense behaviors preferred.
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) experience preferred.
• Successfully pass all required background checks including fingerprinting and registry checks.
• Ability to work with and care for children with developmental disabilities and co-occurring challenges.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License and remain eligible insurable under the BSLS insurance coverage policy.
• Ability to complete duties in a gentle, compassionate and evidenced-based manner, while operating within the rights of the children supported.
• Demonstrates patience and compassion.

Pay Range

USD $20.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.

Shift and Schedule

1 - 1st Shift, 4 - 2nd Shift, 5 - 3rd Shift

Schedule

We have a variety of full time and part time positions available including 1st shift, 2nd shift, and 3rd shift.
